We Are Enable Labs...
Founded in 2004 by Mark Menard, our first project was creating the Masonic Online Registry Interface (MORI) for the use by the Grand Lodge of New York. Since then we have done web based applications for many member based organizations, importers and distributors and launched our own software as a service issue tracking system and Ruby on Rails development services.
Our offices are in a classic Victorian brownstone in historic Troy, NY. Close to the Hudson River waterfront, downtown and brewery districts' shopping, dining, culture and night life.
All of our staff work onsite at our office. It's part of what separates us from other consultancies. We believe that collocated teams are more efficient, more creative, more attentive, and produce better outcomes.
We Used to be Vita Rara...
Our original name was Vita Rara, Inc. It embodied a large part of what we were about. Vita Rara means life uncommon in Latin. We sought to, and still do, walk a different path in providing services to our clients. Lending our support to those things that liberate our clients and us, enabling us to perform better, and contribute to our families, communities and society.
With all of that said, "classic education in Latin is dead." Very few people take latin anymore. People couldn't pronounce our name, couldn't spell it, and didn't remember it. So after much soul searching and Googling we picked a new name, Enable Labs. Our advice to anyone naming a business is DON'T USE LATIN.
Enable Labs embodies what we have been doing for over six years, enabling our clients to grow their businesses and organization by harnessing Internet and Web technologies.
